Cultural activities for students​​
Many theatres, concert halls and museums still offer reduced student rates, often with discounts of between 25 and 50 per cent; in addition, some venues offer student tickets at a fixed price or last-minute tickets at the box office.
ClassicCard: The ClassicCard is available to young people up to and including the age of 28; with it, opera and ballet tickets cost 18 euros when booked in advance, concert tickets 16 euros, and just before the performance, as little as 13 or 11 euros respectively.
Staatsoper Unter den Linden: A limited number of discounted tickets are available for young visitors; ‘berlinbuehnen’ also lists a quota of student tickets as part of the ‘Berliner Bühnen’ offers.
Deutsche Oper Berlin: Students can purchase both discounted tickets in advance and remaining tickets at the box office; ‘Berliner Bühnen’ lists special ‘youth tickets’ for certain performances.
Komische Oper Berlin: Here, too, there are discounted tickets for young people and students, subject to availability.
Schaubühne: Students can buy tickets there for 9 euros; students at the HfS and the UdK can even get tickets for 5 euros, subject to availability.
DSO Berlin: Students up to the age of 27 can buy tickets in advance for 17 euros and at the box office for 12 euros; there are also advance-booking promotions at university stands twice a year.dso-berlin
Theatres with student offers: The Renaissance Theatre offers the ‘RT CampusCard’, which allows students to attend performances for 5 euros at the box office; other theatres, such as the Volksbühne and the Gorki, also offer reduced student rates.
Museums: The Berlin State Museums traditionally offer a 50 per cent discount on admission tickets, including for exhibitions and special exhibitions.
Sport for students
1. Berlin University Sports
Berlin University Sports brings together the sports programmes offered by Berlin’s universities. Students at the TU, HU, FU, HTW and BHT can choose from several hundred courses – many of which are also open to students from other universities. The range extends from traditional ball sports to trend sports. Course fees are generally significantly lower than those charged by commercial providers. New courses usually start at the beginning of the semester.
