How to get to the Berlin trade fair grounds
The Berlin trade fair grounds (Messe Berlin) are located in the Messedamm / Westend district and are very well connected to public transport. Here are the most practical ways for visitors:
🚆 Public Transport
U-Bahn (U2) – Messe / ICC
The U2 subway line goes directly to the trade fair. Stations: Kaiserdamm or Theodor-Heuss-Platz → approx. 5–10 minutes on foot.
S-Bahn (S41/S42 Ringbahn) – Messe Süd / Westend
The Ringbahn stops nearby: Westkreuz or Zoologischer Garten → continue by bus or a short walk.
Buses
Lines M49, 104, 109 stop directly at the trade fair. Many other lines connect the main train station, Zoologischer Garten, and subway stations directly to the fair.
🚗 By Car
Address: Messedamm 22, 14055 Berlin
Parking: Available, but limited on fair days – arriving early is recommended.
Tip: Use Park & Ride, e.g., at Messe-Süd / Westkreuz. Navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze show traffic congestion during fair days.
🚲 Walking & Cycling
Bicycles: Bike racks are available at the fairgrounds.
On foot: About 5–10 minutes from Westkreuz S-Bahn or Kaiserdamm U-Bahn station.
✈️ From Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER)
Take the regional trains (RE7 / RB14) or S-Bahn (S9) to Ostkreuz or Zoologischer Garten, then transfer to U2 toward the fair. Duration: approx. 45–60 minutes.
💡 Tip for visitors:
Public transport is often faster and less stressful than driving on fair days. For day visits, a BVG day ticket for buses, U-Bahn, and S-Bahn is recommended.
What should you bring to a trade fair?
To ensure a smooth and successful day, it’s worth being well prepared. Bring your ticket or ID (both digital and printed), business cards for networking, and a notebook or tablet to record important information about exhibitors, products, or workshops.
Comfortable shoes are essential, as you’ll walk several kilometers. A small bag or backpack is useful for brochures, flyers, or giveaways. Don’t forget some personal items to stay comfortable: deodorant, hairbrush, makeup touch-up, small perfume, and blister plasters if needed. Water, snacks, and a fully charged phone with a power bank will help you stay energized throughout the day.
Trade fairs for start-ups and founders
If you’re interested in start-ups or founders, don’t miss events like Startupnight Berlin or the Startup Expo / StartupCon, where you can meet young companies, founders, and investors. The Stuzubi fair is also useful for career guidance and start-up orientation. A particularly exciting event is the Tech Open Air (TOA), which focuses on digital innovation, start-ups, and future technologies.
Fairs showcasing innovations and future trends
If you want to discover the latest innovations, you should visit IFA Berlin, where smart home, consumer electronics, and new technologies are on display. ITB Berlin provides insights into the future of tourism, including digital and sustainable solutions. Fruit Logistica presents innovations in food production and logistics. The Greentech Festival focuses on green technologies and sustainability, while the Tech Open Air (TOA) offers insights into digitalization, start-ups, and artificial intelligence. For aerospace enthusiasts, the ILA Berlin Air Show is a must-see, showcasing tomorrow’s technologies up close. Plan your schedule in advance to catch key highlights and presentations.
